NETS-S 3 Research and Information Fluency

Carl Heine and I have been presenting regularly at NECC since Atlanta. Now that it's ISTE 2010, we're hoping to come to Denver to share our latest work in Information Fluency & Information Literacy.

We are veterans of the 21st Century Information Fluency Project (21CIF), started in the last century by Dr. David Barr. When our grant funding ran out in 2008, Carl and I founded 21cif.com to keep the good work moving forward.

I hope this new Ning Group will become a gathering place for everyone interested in searching, evaluating and ethically using digital information. We have a wealth of information to share. I'm sure you do too!

Chris, I really enjoyed your video tour and conceptual overview of a personal learning network. Combining mind-mapping and web 2.0 technologies works for me.

Shambles PLN were perfect keywords for finding this part of your site:

Did you do the hot-linked image chart using with html or using a web tool?

I see too that you're using Screenr.com. I prefer it over Jing because (for now) there's more free flexibility for publishing the videos. I've been a fan of Shambles for a long time. Great to connect with you online.

I feel quite strongly that a survival skill in this age of potential 'information overload' is to quantify and visualise our own personal learning network PLN.
This is my story

p.s. ... I like the logo used for this group.

It might be fun to have a screen/LCD panel/speakers where we could showcase stuff created in the playground? We all know the process is about play, but seeing stuff other people created might inspire passers-by to join in.

I think it was okay, but with machines and staff behind the stations it seems like we could maybe make it a bit more open and inviting? Not sure how to accomplish that, but even turn stations around or use round tables (donuts) instead of rectangula…

Good idea. I might be able to bring 4-6 iPod touches....we could preload the apps we would like to demo. Anyone going to have the iPads?
